Tour Director Lecture Series June 8 - June 12

Hello intrepid traveler!

In these troubling times, the work you do as educators is more important than ever. Our children rely on you for steadfast guidance in a world that feels more out of control than ever. Your perseverance and dedication this year has been inspiring to all of us here at Passports.

We are thankful for you.

We are relieved to see travel restrictions lifting around the globe. Parisiens are back at cafes. Travelers are making the unsteady ascent to the top of the leaning tower. Every day we are hearing positive developments from the global scientific community. We are encouraged and expect a full return to normalcy in the coming months. We are looking forward to a safe and robust travel year next year.

In this period where travel was impossible, Passports has tried to connect American students with cultural opportunities via our Tour Director team, who provided lectures on topics from Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and more! It has been a pleasure to connect with so many of you in this positive way. Thank you for being a part of it.

The lecture series is available on our web site for your use. You are welcome to share them with friends, family and your students as you see fit.

Here are the highlights from last week:
Scotland: Monsters, Mountains and Tartan - Part 2
Scotland: a country with stunning scenery, a history of battles, myths and legends and, of course, good old Nessie, the Loch Ness monster. This talk will dip into the history of the Clans and the tartan they wear. We'll explore some of the scenery we've seen in TV shows and movies. And, maybe we'll find out... does the monster exist?
A Virtual Tour of the Palace of Versailles
A virtual guided tour inside the palace!
You can see ALL of our lectures on our blog.

The lectures are appropriate for students of all ages and are provided free of charge.

Each lecture features:
  • A 20-30 minute presentation by a Passports Tour Director
  • Questions from the attendees
  • A Kahoot quiz

Spanish Tortilla Cooking Lesson
With Julian Moseley

Learn Spanish with Julian - inside his kitchen - while he demonstrates the proper technique for Spanish Tortilla making!

The Spanish Omelette or Tortilla Española  is a traditional and popular dish in Spain. One of the pillars of Spanish cuisine and an essential element  of tapas culture, it is a thick disk-shaped omelette made with eggs and potatoes, often including onion and sometimes other ingredients such as red peppers or chorizo sausage. It's usually served at room temperature as a tapa, as a snack, or in a bocadillo (a baguette sandwich). No tapas bar, café or cafetería in Spain can be without a Tortilla sitting on the bar, ready to be sliced into wedges and served as a tapapincho or raciòn. ¿Vamos a ver como se prepara?
